About This Course

The purpose of the Nursing Studies - Maternity and Children course is to provide students with a clear understanding of the academic requirements, personal qualities and charac­teristics necessary for a successful career in midwifery and children's nursing.

The focus of the Nursing Studies - Maternity and Children course is to prepare students for progression to Midwifery and Children's Nursing Degree Programmes. Students will gain the skills to work under supervision in a variety of healthcare settings.  The course combines a wide range of modules designed to give students an overview of topics required for midwifery and children's nursing, with a work placement element, which students arrange in a healthcare setting of their choice. Students are provided with a unique insight into careers in midwifery, children's nursing and caring professions. The course in Nursing Studies - Maternity and Children also prepares students for academic studies, interviews and career progression.
